Rainer is our lead mental performance coach for our NBA and FIBA clients and also oversees our daily business operations. He has been working closely with Tobias Harris (76ers) for years, is currently on staff with s.Oliver Würzburg (Dirk Nowitzki's home club), and has worked with hundreds of clients up to the Olympic level. Rainer fell in love with basketball as a teenager growing up in Germany where he also coached. Eventually, he moved to the US and played at the University of Maine at Machias while studying psychology and coaching. Rainer went on to earn his Ph.D. in Kinesiology with a Specialization in Sport Psychology and Motor Behavior (University of Tennessee, 2011) and is also a Certified Mental Performance Consultant (Association for Applied Sport Psychology). From business to hoops to ping pong, he loves to compete and is passionate about empowering others to discover the best versions of themselves.
Dave Laughlin, PhD

Dave is primarily in charge of our assessment services, research efforts, and skill acquisition applications, while also being heavily involved in our NBA Pre-Draft consulting work. He played collegiate baseball (William Jewell College) and coached at the high school and college level before pursuing his graduate studies. Dave earned his Ph.D. in Kinesiology with a Specialization in Sport Psychology and Motor Behavior (University of Tennessee, 2012). In addition to his work with Courtex, he serves as an Assistant Professor of Exercise Science at Grand Valley State University where he teaches and researches the role of motivation in team and individual performance. While Dave is most passionate studying the mental game, he also provides hands-on mental training to some of our clients and has been working closely with our MLB referrals (yes, we do serve non-basketball clients from time to time!).
Mike Wiley, MA, LPC

Mike primarily trains our college and high school clients, including future NBA and FIBA pros. Basketball was his first love as a sport. Growing up in South Seattle, WA he watched and competed against future NBA players. After attending Washington State University where he studied psychology, Mike moved to Chicago to earn his M.A. in Sport Psychology and Clinical Counseling (Adler University, 2016). He is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the state of Illinois. As an avid sports junkie, Mike follows everything from the NBA to the NFL, MLB, golf, and tennis, and lives to compete and help others master the mental challenges of their performance so that they can thrive.
